The Department of Posts is introducing a significant upgrade in its Cash on Delivery (COD) payment collection process. As of August 9, 2024, a new functionality for collecting COD payments through QR codes has been launched. This improvement is accessible via the Postman Mobile Application (PMA), developed by CEPT, ensuring seamless transactions for both customers and postal workers.
Key Details
-
Compatible Devices: The QR code payment option is available only on DoP-owned devices (without MDM control) and devices registered under the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scheme used for parcel delivery. This ensures optimal performance and security during transactions.
- Phased Rollout: After a successful pilot in selected Nodal Delivery Centres (NDCs) since July 8, 2024, the nationwide rollout will start on August 12, 2024, covering all NDCs in a phased manner. This step-by-step implementation aims to gather valuable insights and gradually expand the service.
- Standard Operating Procedure (SOP): An SOP detailing the use of QR-based payments through PMA and its integration with the existing CSI system is provided. Postal staff can download the updated PMA application using the Google Drive link provided.
-
Support for Field Teams: To ensure a smooth transition, CEPT has set up a WhatsApp group for real-time assistance and communication. Circles are requested to share the details of their SPOCs (Single Point of Contact) by August 9, 2024, so they can be added to the group.
