The Department of Posts, has announced the process for filling vacancies in the MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff), Postman, and Mail Guard cadres for the year 2024. This directive comes as a response to the significant number of unfilled positions reported across various postal circles.

- There are numerous vacancies in the Postman, Mail Guard, and MTS cadres.
- Unfilled vacancies from the 2021 and 2022 recruitment cycles will be added to the 2024 vacancy year.
- Vacancies from the 2021 cycle that are currently under judicial consideration are excluded.
- Examination and Appointment Process:
- Circles are urged to complete the examination and appointment process for the 2024 vacancies promptly.
- Any remaining unfilled vacancies after the completion of this process will be reported to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for filling through open recruitment examinations in 2025.
- Relaxation in Eligibility Criteria:
- The Department of Posts has approved a one-year relaxation in service eligibility for appearing in departmental examinations for the 2024 vacancy year.
- Eligibility for MTS to Postman/Mail Guard:
- MTS with 2 years of service as of January 1, 2024.
- Eligibility for GDS to Postman/Mail Guard:
- GDS with 4 years of service as of January 1, 2024.
- Eligibility for GDS to MTS:
- GDS with 2 years of service as of January 1, 2024.
Action Required:
- Postal circles are instructed to adhere to the revised eligibility conditions and ensure the wide publicity of these relaxations among the MTS and GDS staff.
- The process must be expedited to provide accurate data on unfilled vacancies for future reporting to the SSC.
This initiative aims to streamline the recruitment process, address the staffing shortages effectively, and maintain the operational efficiency of postal services across the country.
