Filling Vacancies for MTS, Postman, and Mail Guard for 2024
The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, has announced the filling up of vacancies for the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Postman, and Mail Guard for the 2024 vacancy year. This update provides crucial information for eligible candidates, including important dates and eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria Relaxation
The Directorate has approved a relaxation in the service eligibility conditions for candidates appearing in the Departmental Competitive Examinations for these posts. Here are the key details:
- MTS Candidates:
- MTS with 2 years of service as of January 1, 2024, are eligible to appear for the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion to the posts of Postman and Mail Guard.
- Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS):
- GDS with 4 years of service as of January 1, 2024, are eligible to appear for the competitive examination limited to GDS for recruitment to the posts of Postman and Mail Guard.
- GDS with 2 years of service as of January 1, 2024, are eligible to appear for the competitive examination limited to GDS for recruitment to the posts of MTS.
Combined Service Eligibility
The Directorate has received inquiries regarding the applicability of this one-year relaxation to MTS with combined service as GDS. According to the Postman and Mail Guard Recruitment (Amendment) Rules 2023, the following candidates are eligible for the examinations:
- MTS in level-1 of the pay matrix with three years of regular service in the grade as of January 1 of the vacancy year.
- MTS in level-1 of the pay matrix with a total of five years of regular service, including service as GDS, as of January 1 of the vacancy year.
Therefore, MTS with a total regular service of four years, including service as GDS, as of January 1, 2024, are eligible for the 2024 vacancy year.
Application Process
To ensure all eligible candidates are informed, Circles are advised to issue an addendum to the notification seeking applications for the examination scheduled on August 25, 2024. The deadline for application submissions has been extended by one week to accommodate this clarification.
