The Department of Posts has addressed the issue of granting permission to Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) for pursuing further studies. This comes after multiple representations and RTI requests seeking clarification on the matter. Due to varying practices across different circles, a uniform decision has now been made.

- No Permission Required Beyond Duty Hours:
- GDS employees can pursue further studies beyond their duty/office hours without needing permission, as long as it does not hamper office work.
- Leave for Examinations:
- GDS employees may be allowed to take leave for exams as per existing rules and their entitlements. However, such leave is not guaranteed and may be denied if it conflicts with official duties or public interest.
- Uniform Implementation:
- All Chief Postmasters General are instructed to follow this guideline to ensure uniformity across circles.
This order is approved by the competent authority and aims to streamline the process, making it easier for GDS employees to enhance their qualifications.
