Updates to the GDS Compassionate Engagement Scheme 2023
The Department of Posts, has issued Addendum-III to the Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) Compassionate Engagement Scheme, 2023. This addendum includes significant updates and provisions aimed at enhancing the scheme’s scope and ensuring better support for the dependents of deceased GDS employees.

Key Updates in Addendum-III
- Married Daughter
The scheme now includes a provision for the married daughter of the deceased GDS, provided she was wholly dependent on the deceased at the time of death and agrees to support other dependent family members. - Married Daughter-in-Law
The inclusion of a married daughter-in-law is subject to the following conditions:- The son of the deceased GDS is unfit to be engaged as GDS due to medical or mental conditions.
- No other family member is available to be engaged as GDS/Dak Sevak under relaxed conditions.
- The Head of Circle is the competent authority to decide on such requests on a case-to-case basis.
Distribution and Implementation
This addendum has been circulated to all concerned authorities, including the Chief Postmasters General, Postal Directorates, RAKNPA, and recognized service unions. The General Manager (CEPT), Bengaluru, is requested to upload this addendum on the India Post Website and make necessary modifications to include these provisions in the GDS Online Engagement Portal.
