Verification of Educational documents of selected candidates for GDS
Overview
This is an important update for all applicants who applied for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) posts in Schedule-I (January 2023), Special Cycle, and Schedule-II (July 2023). The Department of Posts (DoP) is taking steps to verify the educational documents submitted by candidates.

Background:
Previously, the DoP requested Circles (regional postal divisions) to verify marksheets and certificates through DigiLocker or Board websites (if available online) by November 30, 2023.
Current Status:
A significant number of documents remain pending verification. The DoP has outlined new procedures for verification depending on availability through online channels.
Action Steps:
Schedule-I (January 2023):
- Documents unavailable online or not feasible for online verification: Circles with the relevant board will send these documents for physical verification within two weeks. Circles will then upload the verification report upon receiving it.
- Documents available online or feasible for online verification: Circles will:
- Download a list of such candidates categorized by Engaging Authority (EA).
- Share these details with the concerned Circles/EAs for online verification through DigiLocker or board websites. Website/DigiLocker details will also be provided for ease of access.
- Forward these details to the concerned EAs for verification by May 15, 2024.
- EAs will perform online verification by May 31, 2024. Verified documents will be automatically removed from the Circle login, leaving only those requiring physical verification.
Special Cycle & Schedule-II (July 2023):
- EAs will verify pending documents by May 25, 2024.
- Documents unavailable online will be forwarded to the Circle login (if the board exists) for physical verification.
Monitoring and Support:
- The DoP has requested the CEPT to provide a monitoring information system (MIS) for all levels.
- CEPT will conduct a demonstration of the online verification facility in the GDS Portal for Circle Nodal Officers. Circles are advised to liaise with CEPT for this purpose.
Important Dates:
- May 11, 2024: Deadline for Circles to share document details with concerned EAs.
- May 15, 2024: Deadline for EAs to receive document details for online verification (Schedule-I).
- May 25, 2024: Deadline for EAs to verify documents for Special Cycle & Schedule-II.
- May 31, 2024: Deadline for EAs to complete online verification (Schedule-I).
